The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has commissioned an ultramodern 70-bed girls’ dormitory at St. Paul's Technical School (SPATS) in the Eastern Region, reaffirming the government's commitment to strengthening Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) across the country. The newly commissioned facility, inaugurated on June 17, 2026, comes with ancillary facilities, a 100 percent solar-powered energy system, and a biodigester, aimed at improving accommodation and learning conditions for female students. Akyem Odumase, Eastern Region– A downpour on Sunday, June 14, 2026, left one person feared dead and thousands homeless after floods swept through parts of the Abuakwa South Municipality. The most severe case was reported at an illegal mining site in Akyem Odumase, where a miner is still trapped underground. The Presbyterian Church worldwide wore red bands to church on Sunday, 14th June 2026, in a silent but serious and conspicuous move inviting all to join them in the campaign against ecological injustice. They are calling for a stop to environmental destruction.
