Nsawam–Adoagyiri, Eastern Region – The Eastern South Regional Police Command, with support from a team from the National Operations Directorate, has arrested 258 suspects in connection with the violent disturbances that erupted at Nsawam–Adoagyiri on 7th July 2026. According to the Police, preliminary investigations indicate that some youth allegedly engaged in acts of vandalism, looting, and robbery during the disturbances. The suspects are believed to have looted several shops, set fire to an Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) transformer, vandalized the Oko Anadwo Palace and an astro turf facility, and robbed a number of mobile money vendors, creating widespread fear and panic among residents. During the security operation, officers retrieved two locally manufactured firearms, quantities of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, suspected tramadol and Viagra tablets, as well as several mobile phones believed to be relevant to the ongoing investigations.   Abuakwa North, Eastern Region – Aspiring New Patriotic Party (NPP) Women Organiser for the Abuakwa North Constituency of Ghana's Eastern Region, Irene Baah Asare, has demonstrated her commitment to empowering young people by donating an industrial sewing machine to Benjamin Teye Kusorgbor of the Ati Amanfrom Electoral Area on 9th July, 2026. The donation followed a request made during Ms. Baah Asare's recent tour of the constituency by Joseph Antwi Mensah, Polling Station Chairman of the Ati Pentecost Church Polling Station. The Fanteakwa South District Assembly, in collaboration with the Fanteakwa South District Education Directorate, has distributed 750 mono desks to basic and second-cycle schools across the district to improve the teaching and learning environment. Speaking to the media during the distribution exercise, the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Mercy Korang, expressed appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama for the government's intervention aimed at addressing the furniture deficit in schools across the country. According to the DCE, the district received a total of 750 mono desks, which will be distributed to Kindergarten (KG), Primary, Junior High School (JHS), and Senior High School (SHS) students.
