E/R: Armed Men Disguised as Security Officers Rob Akwadum Family of GH₵200,000 in Alleged Gold Deal Scam

  A supposed gold transaction at Akwadum in the Abuakwa South Municipality of the Eastern Region has ended in a violent robbery, leaving a local family traumatized and out of GH₵200,000 in cash. According to reports, Derick Boadu was on 19th April 2025 contacted by a man who identified himself as Nana Yaw, allegedly calling from Tarkwa, claiming to have gold for sale. Derick paid GH₵1,000 to facilitate the transportation of the supposed sellers from Tarkwa to Akwadum. Three men arrived and, due to transportation difficulties, spent the night at Nayamas Guest House at Odumase. Derick said the men later called him at about 4 a.m. the next day to meet for the transaction. In an effort to verify the authenticity of the gold, Derick introduced the visitors to his father, Nana Boadu, at Akwadum Ankobeabene, where the supposed transaction was to take place.   The Kwahu West Municipal Security Council (MUSEC) has undertaken a major demolition exercise at the Nkawkaw Agbogbloshie enclave, removing several unauthorized temporary structures and evicting squatters following a recent tragic incident in the area. Speaking to the media, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Tamimu Halidu, explained that the operation aimed to restore order and sanity while enhancing security to prevent future loss of lives. The exercise, conducted in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), targeted illegal structures erected around the scene of the murder of the late musician, Fada Gaza.
