E/R:NDC Abuakwa South Constituency Demands Immediate Halt to Recruitment Letters for Kyebi Fire Service Training Center

  The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Constituency Communication Officer for Abuakwa South, Aikins Ofori, has issued a stern directive to halt the issuance of recruitment letters to individuals for training at the newly established Fire Service Training Center in Kyebi, Eastern Region. In a statement, Aikins Ofori revealed that the Ghana Fire Service continues to issue letters, backdated to November 2024, to recruits in 2025. He alleged that this practice is a deliberate ploy by the immediate past government and its allies within the Fire Service to undermine the administration of President John Dramani Mahama. He further called on the Eastern Regional Fire Service Commander and the national leadership of the Fire Service to immediately cease this activity. President John Mahama Revokes Appointments of MMDCEs and Assembly Members

  The President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, has officially revoked the appointments of Chief Executives of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDCEs) and Assembly Members who were appointed under the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936), as amended by the Local Governance (Amendment) Act, 2017 (Act 940). This decision, outlined in a letter signed by Dr. Callistus Mahama, Secretary to the President, and dated January 8, 2025, takes immediate effect. The revocation applies to all individuals holding these positions under the relevant sections of the Local Governance Act. In the interim, the President has directed that the respective Coordinating Directors of the various Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) assume responsibility as Acting Chief Executives until substantive appointments are made. Nana Akoma Osei Bonsu II, the Queenmother of Oyoko and Adonten Hemaa of the New Juaben Traditional Area, organized a heartwarming Christmas party for the elderly women of Oyoko at the Oyoko Palace. The event was a tribute to her late mother, Maame Abena Nyamekye, who passed away decades ago. In her address to the elderly women, Nana Akoma Osei Bonsu II expressed her motivation for hosting the event, stating, "If my mother, Maame Abena Nyamekye, were alive, she would have been part of this group. This celebration is in her memory and my way of honoring the aged in her absence."
