The second edition of the Ofie Market at Amanokrom in the Akuapem North District recorded significant gains, with vendors and buyers praising the initiative for its growing impact. Speaking to the media, Mr. Samuel Kodua Boateng, a member of the Ofie Market Organizing Committee and NPP Akuapem North Constituency Secretary, revealed that the market was established following a promise made by the Member of Parliament for Akuapem North, Hon. Sammy Awuku, during his campaign. According to Mr. Boateng, Hon. Awuku engaged various stakeholders—including farmers, market women, artisans, clergy, and traditional leaders—who agreed on the need to create an additional market day in Amanokrom on the last Saturday of each month. This initiative aims to reduce post-harvest losses and boost local economic activity, especially as the entire Akuapem North District previously had only one market day at Adawso.
