Anas Ahmed, aspirant for Central Regional Deputy Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has raised concerns about government appointees ignoring national executives and grassroots, posing a threat to Ghanaian democracy. He emphasized the need to preserve the 1992 constitution and democracy, urging Ghanaians to choose between sustaining democratic practices or risking its erosion. Ahmed proposes establishing a fund to support political activities, allowing certified candidates to access funding, reducing reliance on external financiers and curbing corruption. "So long as presidential candidates and aspirants seek external funding, corruption and sidelining of party executives will persist," he stated. Campaigning for the NDC position, Ahmed promised to initiate discussions at the Regional Executive Committee (REC) and National Executive Committee (NEC) levels to implement reforms. His message: prioritize internal democracy and transparency. Credit: Nana Kwasi Asa...
