E/R: Fire Outrage Displaces Six at Kukurantumi
A two-bedroom apartment located at house number KG 7D at Kukurantumi, near Asafo Junction on the Bunsu–Koforidua Highway in Ghana's Eastern Region, was gutted by fire at about 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. The blaze destroyed several items, including two mattresses, a refrigerator, three packets of roofing sheets, a sum of GH₵20,000, and other personal belongings. Four adult females and two young males were displaced by the incident. Fortunately, no casualties were recorded. Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) in Koforidua and Bunso responded promptly and managed to bring the fire under control. Preliminary investigations by the GNFS indicate that the fire was caused by an electrical fault. The Abuakwa North Municipal office of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), headed by Hon. Joseph Ansaah, has urged the general public to exercise caution in handling electrical appliances and fire, especially during the harmattan season. Further ...
