Family of Late Dr. Omane Boamah Appeals for Security Service Recruitment Slots to Honour His Legacy

  The family of the late Minister for the Interior, Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, is appealing to the Government of Ghana to consider granting special recruitment slots within the security services to qualified relatives of the eight state officials who perished in the military helicopter crash of 6th August 2025. According to the family, such a gesture would serve as a national acknowledgment of the dedication, sacrifice, and years of service Dr. Boamah and the other officials rendered to the state before their untimely demise. On August 6, 2025, a Ghana Air Force Harbin Z-9 helicopter transporting government officials to an anti-galamsey mission crashed into a forested mountainside in the Ashanti Region. All eight occupants—including Dr. Boamah, who was then serving as Minister for the Interior—lost their lives on impact.   The Akyem Asafo community in the Eastern Region has successfully marked the first day of activities leading to the enstoolment and outdooring of Gifty Nana Adu, who is being installed as Nana Adoma Kyirekua I, the Aduana Nkosuo Hemaa of Akyem Asafo. The initial rites, held on 13th November 2025, took place in a calm and harmonious atmosphere as elders, traditional leaders, and residents gathered at the Chief’s Palace to witness the commencement of the historic ceremony. The event was characterized by rich cultural displays, including traditional drumming, dancing, and the performance of sacred rituals that signify the legitimacy and continuity of Akyem tradition.
