E/R: 13-Year-Old Boy Allegedly Murdered at Osiem

  A tragic incident has shocked residents of Akyem Osiem-Kyekyewere in the Abuakwa North Municipality of the Eastern Region, as a 13-year-old boy, identified as Richmond K. Antony, popularly known as "Paa," was allegedly murdered by an unknown assailant on the evening of Wednesday, June 11, 2025. According to the victim’s father, the young boy had stepped out around 7:00 p.m. to buy food but returned shortly after with multiple cutlass wounds on his body, crying out in pain. He was immediately rushed to the Hawa Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The matter has since been reported to the Akyem New Tafo Police Command, who have launched investigations into the alleged murder. Authorities are urging the public to remain calm as they work to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available. A recent media visit to Transeco Minerals and Mining Limited, located in Akyem Saaman in the Eastern Region, has revealed that the company is not engaged in illegal mining activities, contrary to misinformation circulating on social media and in some media outlets. Mr. E.K. Gyamerah, the General Manager of the company, explained that Transeco Minerals is a duly registered mining firm operating as a model center for responsible and sustainable mining practices. The company serves as a training ground where others come to learn proper mining techniques. During the tour, journalists observed that previously mined lands had been successfully reclaimed and restored. Crops such as cassava and coconut had been planted and handed back to the rightful landowners. As part of its environmental restoration efforts, 300 trees are currently being planted on sections of the reclaimed lands to promote ecological recovery and long-term sustainability. Tamimu Halidu , has embarked on a tour of the 11 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) centres across the municipality to encourage candidates and boost their confidence. During his visit, the MCE advised students to stay disciplined, remain calm, and avoid fear and panic while writing their exams. He urged them to give their best and refrain from engaging in any form of examination malpractice. “You have prepared well, so trust yourselves and write to the best of your ability,” Hon.
