E/R:Kwahu West Municipal Assembly Engages Traders on Central Market Reconstruction

The Kwahu West Municipal Assembly has held a meeting with Nkawkaw central market traders ahead of the market's reconstruction. Hon. Tamimu, the Kwahu West Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), explained that the engagement focused on addressing safety, sanitation, and modernization of facilities, and discussed relocation plans and creation of a safer trading environment. Traders expressed concerns about potential displacement, but the MCE assured them that a proper database has been set up to facilitate their return to the market upon completion of the project. A temporary trading location will also be provided. Rev. Daniel Nkrumah, the Assembly's Coordinating Director, emphasized the need for rehabilitation of the market due to its poor condition. ‎ ‎The Abuakwa North Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), led by Mrs. Beatrice N. Opoku Budu, has organized the 5th edition of its annual Chocolate Day celebration at St. Paul’s Technical School in Akyem Kukurantumi in the Eastern Region. The event, held on 6th February 2026, formed part of activities ahead of the national Chocolate Day marked on 14th February each year. ‎ ‎In an interview with the press, Mrs. Opoku Budu explained that the initiative is aimed at promoting healthy living among students by encouraging the consumption of chocolate drinks as a healthier alternative to alcoholism. She added that the programme also focused on addressing issues of gross indecency and promoting moral discipline among the youth. ‎ ‎As part of the event, two drama performances were staged for the students. E/R:Old Tafo R/C Primary Wins Cocoa Club Ghana Cooking Contest; Stakeholders Call for Value Addition and Sustainability

  Six primary schools in the Abuakwa North Municipality displayed exceptional creativity and innovation at the Cocoa Club Ghana LBG Cooking Contest held on 12th February, 2026 at the PCG Bethel Church Hall, New Tafo in the Eastern Region. The participating schools were Kukurantumi R/C Primary, Osiem M/A Saviour B Primary, Old Tafo Akyem R/C Primary, Akyem Tafo CRIG Primary, New Tafo Presby Primary, and OPASS M/A Primary. After a competitive showdown, Old Tafo Akyem R/C Primary emerged winners with 1,218 points. Akyem Tafo CRIG Primary placed second with 1,098 points, while Kukurantumi R/C Primary secured third position with 1,034 points. OPASS M/A Primary came fourth with 958 points, New Tafo Presby Primary placed fifth with 956 points, and Osiem M/A Saviour B Primary finished sixth with 689 points.
