The Eastern Regional Police Command has intercepted two tipper trucks carrying 150 sacks of dried leaves suspected to be marijuana during a targeted intelligence-led operation. According to a statement from the Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Ebenezer Tetteh, the operation took place on Tuesday, June 11, 2025, at approximately 7:30 a.m. The trucks—identified as Howo Sino models with registration numbers GN 9931-14 and GG 3674-20—were impounded at Apesua, near Nkurakan in the Eastern Region. The suspected contraband was cleverly concealed beneath heaps of sand in both vehicles. Police swiftly arrested the drivers of the trucks, who are currently assisting with investigations.   Kwahu Praso, Eastern Region — The community of Kwahu Praso in the Kwahu South Municipality has been thrown into a state of mourning following the sudden death of 14-year-old Jennifer Osei Nyama, a Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidate and student of Kwahu Praso Preparatory School. According to her father, Sir Godwin, popularly known as Adwuma, Jennifer complained of a slight headache on the morning of the incident. After taking some painkillers, she proceeded to the examination center to write her papers. Later that day, her condition reportedly worsened. Sir Godwin received a distress call and rushed to the scene, after which he took his daughter to the Kwahu Praso Clinic for medical attention. She was treated and discharged. However, her condition deteriorated again later that night. She was rushed to the Holy Family Hospital in Nkawkaw for further treatment but sadly passed away in the early hours of the next morning. A tragic incident has thrown the community of Akyem Osiem-Kyekyewere in the Abuakwa North Municipality of the Eastern Region into mourning, following the gruesome murder of a 13-year-old student on the evening of Wednesday, June 11, 2025. The deceased, identified as Richmond K. Antony — a Form One student of Akyem Osiem SDA Junior High School and popularly known as “Paa” — was reportedly attacked and butchered in front of an uncompleted building near his home by an unknown assailant. According to the boy’s father, Richmond had stepped out around 7:00 p.m. to buy food but returned minutes later with deep cutlass wounds on his body, crying for help. He was immediately rushed to Hawa Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. The incident has since been reported to the Akyem New Tafo Police Command.
