Asiakwa, Eastern Region — The residents of Asiakwa have raised alarm over the escalating illegal mining activities within the area, particularly around river sites such as Supon, Twafuo, and Akoosi, calling on the traditional leadership to take urgent action. In a strongly worded petition addressed to Daasebre Twum Ampofo II, Chief of Asiakwa, the community expressed grave concern over the environmental degradation caused by these operations.
