NPP Condemns Alleged Death Threats and Physical Assault by NDC Executives

  The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has strongly condemned alleged threats of death and acts of violence purportedly made by some executives of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) against leading members of the ruling party. According to a statement signed by the NPP General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party expressed grave concern over threats allegedly issued against the Minority Leader, Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye, and Hon. Frank Annor Dompreh by the NDC’s 1st National Vice Chairman, Chief Sofo Azorka, and the NDC’s Abuakwa North Constituency Communications Officer, Alhaji Abdul Wahab Amadu. Amenfi Central MP Advocates Sustainable Mining and Agriculture for Economic Growth

  The Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe, has reaffirmed her commitment to promoting responsible mining and agriculture as twin pillars of economic growth for her constituency and Ghana at large. Speaking in an interview on Power FM/TV XYZ today, the legislator clarified that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is not against mining, but firmly against illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey, which devastates water bodies and the environment. She explained that small-scale mining should not be confused with illegal mining, stressing that “someone might have all the required documents to mine but still fail to do the right thing.” Hon. Speaking in an interview on CTV today, the Amenfi Central MP emphasized that value addition in the gold sector would not only increase Ghana’s earnings from its natural resources but also create sustainable jobs for the youth. She revealed plans to train young people in jewelry-making and gold processing, thereby equipping them with employable skills.
