Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe Pledges to Boost Gold Processing, Create Jobs for Youth

Businesswoman and politician, Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe, has expressed her commitment to supporting Ghana’s economy by processing gold into finished jewelry both for local use and for export.

Speaking in an interview on CTV today, the Amenfi Central MP emphasized that value addition in the gold sector would not only increase Ghana’s earnings from its natural resources but also create sustainable jobs for the youth. She revealed plans to train young people in jewelry-making and gold processing, thereby equipping them with employable skills.

Touching on the issue of illegal mining, the former parliamentary candidate strongly condemned the practice, stressing that it destroys water bodies and the environment. She urged small-scale miners to register with government and operate within the legal framework to ensure responsible and sustainable mining.

According to her, when the mining industry is properly regulated and linked to value addition initiatives, Ghana can significantly reduce unemployment and boost economic growth.
