E/R:Self-Proclaimed Fetish Priest Jailed for Defrauding Miner
A 30-year-old self-proclaimed fetish priest, Mohammed Alhassan, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison by the New Tafo District Court for defrauding a miner under false pretenses. The ruling was delivered on January 15, 2025, by Her Worship Efua Yirenkyi Esq. Presenting the case, the prosecutor, D/C/Inspector Barnabas Mends, revealed that the complainant, a 27-year-old miner from Osino, encountered the accused in November 2024 in Akim Tafo. During their meeting, the miner introduced himself, and Alhassan promised to help him obtain a significant quantity of gold from his mining site. To facilitate the process, Alhassan demanded GHS 5,000 in cash and gold valued at GHS 19,200 from the complainant. After receiving the money and gold, the accused handed the miner a doll, instructing him to take it home and warning that opening it would lead to madness.
