E/R: Police Urges MTN Ghana to Enhance MoMo Wallet Security to Combat Fraud
The Eastern Regional Police Commander, D.C.O.P. Emmanuel Twumasi-Ankrah, has called for increased collaboration between MTN Ghana, the police, the media, and the public to curb the growing issue of Mobile Money (MoMo) fraud. During MTN's annual engagement with stakeholders, including the Police Service, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the Highways Authority, D.C.O.P. Twumasi-Ankrah stressed the need for collective action to fight these crimes, which have become a significant concern for many MoMo wallet holders. He acknowledged the efforts of MTN Ghana, which serves over 17 million customers, but emphasized that criminals have exploited the network to defraud innocent customers. “Although no country has completely eradicated crime, it can be minimized,” D.C.O.P.
