Retired Fire Officers Demand Apology from Ashanti Regional Minister Over ‘Disrespectful’ Comments

Accra, Ghana – The Association of Retired Fire Officers has strongly condemned what it describes as "unwarranted criticism and public humiliation" of Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) personnel by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, during the recent Adum PZ fire incident. In a strongly worded statement, the retired officers expressed disappointment over the Minister’s public rebuke of firefighters after more than ten hours of intense firefighting efforts. They criticized Dr. Amoakohene for failing to consult the Incident Commander before making comments that undermined the professionalism and dedication of the officers on the ground. According to the association, firefighters had strategically positioned fire tenders and base pumps in accordance with standard operating procedures.
