The handing over of five newly completed health facilities in the Eastern Region by the Ministry of Health has sparked political controversy, as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the region has accused the current administration of failing to acknowledge former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s pivotal role in initiating the projects. The facilities, located in Jumapo, Kwabeng, Nkwatia, Adukrom, and Achiase, were officially transferred to the Ghana Health Service for operationalization on April 3, 2025. While the move has been hailed as a positive step toward improving healthcare accessibility, regional executives of the NPP say the current government is deliberately sidestepping the truth about the origin of these projects.
