E/R: Akyem Hemang Residents Demonstrate to Demand Justice Over Shooting Incident
Residents of the Akyem Hemang community have staged a demonstration to demand justice over the shooting to death of Douglas Acheampong, who was allegedly shot by military personnel in broad daylight in the Fanteakwa South District of the Eastern Region. The demonstration was aimed at petitioning appropriate authorities including the District Chief Executive (DCE), the Ghana Armed Forces, the Member of Parliament (MP), Regional and District Police Commanders, and the Inspector General of Police (IGP), to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of the deceased and to ensure those responsible are held accountable. Speaking to the media after presenting the petition, the Assemblyman for the Akyem Hemang Electoral Area, Hon. Darko Richmond, said the shooting has sparked concern and left residents devastated as they seek answers and justice. He appealed to the President, H.E.
