This renewed commitment is part of the ongoing initiative called "Operation Halt," led by the Ghana Armed Forces, aimed at ridding the country’s river bodies of all illegal mining activities. In a press release issued by the Ministry of Information on October 9, 2024, the government emphasized its determination to address the long-standing problem of illegal mining that has severely affected the nation’s natural resources.
