UW/R:Tragic Tramadol Overdose: Young Man Dies in Babile

Image
A young man in his 20s has died in Babile, Upper West Region, after allegedly swallowing ten tramadol tablets in a competition with friends. The deceased, Kukura, from Tugo in the Jirapa Municipality, reportedly took the high dose to outdo a friend who had taken six tablets. Kukura's condition rapidly deteriorated after taking the tablets, and he was rushed to the Babile Polyclinic for treatment, but unfortunately, he didn't survive. The incident highlights the dangers of tramadol misuse and the risks associated with engaging in such competitions, often driven by peer pressure or a desire to prove oneself. Tramadol is a prescription-only medication, and excessive consumption can lead to severe health complications, including respiratory depression, coma, and death. Authorities are urging the public to avoid such life-threatening behaviors and seek help if struggling with substance abuse. Credit: Nana Kwasi Asare/Crime Check
