  The Conference of Heads of Basic Schools (COHBS), Eastern Region, has successfully held its 2nd Quadrennial Conference at the Greenery Site Auditorium in Kibi on Thursday, 20th November 2025. The event, themed “Empowering Heads, Enhancing Education Leadership for Quality Basic Education,” brought together key stakeholders in the basic education sector to discuss leadership, innovation, and the evolving role of school heads in strengthening Ghana’s educational system. OAfrica NGO Pledges Full Support to Children in Mining Communities — Project Manager

  The Project Manager of OAfrica, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Madam Jacinta Owusua Atakora, has reaffirmed the NGO’s commitment to protecting vulnerable children in mining communities, stressing that no child should end up in an orphanage or be forced into illegal mining (galamsey) due to financial hardship. Speaking at a town hall meeting at Akyem Samang in the Fanteakwa South District, Madam Atakora revealed that for the past 23 years, OAfrica has worked tirelessly to ensure that orphans remain with their families rather than being sent to orphanage homes. She explained that children suffer emotional distress when separated from their parents, which negatively affects their education and future development. Mercy Korang, has engaged residents of Anyem Samang in a town hall meeting to present the Assembly’s achievements and outline development plans. The meeting, held on Wednesday, November 21, 2025, formed part of efforts to promote transparency, accountability, and citizen participation in local governance. Hon. Korang noted that the engagement was meant to update residents on government projects, gather feedback, and address development concerns. Department heads of the Assembly presented reports on their 2025 activities and projections for 2026.
