John Dramani Mahama's Rebranding Gains Support from Christian Leaders Amid Growing Opposition to Bawumia-Clergy

Despite the Church's former entrenched position against John Dramani Mahama (JDM), which contributed to his defeat in the 2016 elections and his improved performance in the 2020 elections, the candidate has successfully rebranded himself and his party in both conduct and speech. Though politicians may not be perfect, Mahama’s efforts have not gone unnoticed by the Christian community. The Church now recognizes Mahama's genuine support for Christendom: JDM introduced the Christian pilgrimage to Jerusalem, offering government incentives similar to the support provided for the Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca. He also initiated a government program to expand and refurbish mission hospitals. He made it a policy that the government should avoid building health facilities in close proximity to mission hospitals, acknowledging the long-standing service of these institutions to their communities. There is brewing tension between occupants of a resettlement community in the Okere District of the Eastern Region and the indigenes of Awukugua over who owns the VRA Quarters land. The attack happened when the chief and residents gathered to witnessed the lunch of “Ebefura 2025” when a fully armed gang from Awukugua invaded the town with sporadic shootings, wailing of weapons and assaulted some elderly residents of Adukrom VRA Quarters today. Galamsey Workers Speak Out: "We Won’t Stop Until Real Solutions Are Provided"

In a viral video circulating on social media, two women working at a galamsey (illegal mining) site have openly declared that they will not stop their activities because they have no other means of survival. The women, frustrated by unfulfilled promises from politicians, expressed their refusal to leave galamsey without viable alternatives for income. "We are tired of the promises made by politicians, promising us jobs but never delivering. We have families to take care of, and no other way to make a living," one of the women said. "Galamsey may be illegal, but it’s the only source of livelihood we have. We cannot continue to suffer in poverty while politicians only care about their own interests." The Minister of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, Hon. Ophelia Mensah-Hayford, has paid a visit to the Ghana Landscape Restoration Projects in the Kwahu East District and Kwahu West Municipality in the Eastern Region. The Ministry, in collaboration with the Forestry Division, Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Cocobod, and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), launched the project to restore degraded lands. The Minister’s two-day familiarization and inspection visit aimed to gather firsthand information on the landscape restoration initiatives and assess the progress of the Ghana Landscape Restoration and Small-Scale Mining Project, which was launched two years ago. The project’s primary objective is to protect, manage, and sustain natural resources while increasing benefits to society.
