As part of the Abuakwa North KOIKA initiative, students from Osiem R/C JHS were live on Nopras FM today, discussing the impact of social media on adolescents!

They shared insightful perspectives on:

Cyberbullying and online safety
Social media addiction and mental health
Positive online interactions and digital citizenship

Kudos to these young advocates for taking the lead in promoting responsible social media 

The students expressed gratitude to KOIKA for the initiative and to Mrs. Grace Adza Awude, Director of Education, for her unwavering support.

"We appreciate KOIKA's efforts in empowering us through education and advocacy," said the students 

"We're thankful for Mrs. Awude's leadership and commitment to improving education in Abuakwa North," added the students

The discussion, moderated by Mr Awal Adam

"We're proud of our students for taking initiative and sharing their perspectives on this critical issue," said the head teacher

The headteacher seized the opportunity to appeal to stakeholders and the government to provide the school with adequate infrastructure, citing the current Junior High School's pavilion-style structure.

"Our students deserve a conducive learning environment. We urgently need modern school buildings to enhance teaching and learning," Headteacher's emphasized

This appearance demonstrates Osiem R/C JHS's commitment to empowering students to navigate the digital world

  The Abuakwa North Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Dr. Alhaji Umar Babs Bodinga, has recognized two prominent leaders for their dedication and impactful contributions to the community. Barimah Dr. Awuah Parker, the Chief of Sokode-Juaso, and Superintendent Isaac Ampofo, Akyem Tafo’s District Police Commander, were both honored at the 40th Farmers' Day Celebration held on November 8, 2024, in Sokode-Juaso. Dr. Kingsley Agyeman, the parliamentary candidate for Abuakwa South Constituency, has extended a generous hand to support local youth and artisans. In a heartwarming ceremony held at Akyem Maase, Dr. Agyeman, along with key New Patriotic Party (NPP) constituency executives, donated essential equipment and financial support to aspiring apprentices in dressmaking and hairdressing. Among the NPP executives present were Constituency Chairman Otis Asante, Secretary Julius Okyere, Women’s Organizer Nana Serwaa Oti, and Organizer Okyeame Appiah. Eastern Region Inaugurates Task Force to Tackle Illegal Mining

Koforidua, Ghana – The Eastern Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has inaugurated a nine-member illegal mining task force to combat the growing menace of galamsey and protect the region’s lands, forests, and water bodies for future generations. The task force has been mandated to monitor and prevent illegal mining activities, identify and shut down galamsey sites, enforce mining laws, confiscate illegal equipment, and engage in public education and community collaboration to curb the practice.
