W/R:Bonuama Makes History as 39 Patients Receive 47 Free Surgeries in Three Days

BONUAMA, WESTERN REGION — Bonuama Polyclinic in the Wassa Amenfi Central District has recorded a major milestone in rural healthcare delivery after 39 patients underwent a total of 47 surgical procedures free of charge during a three-day medical outreach. The outreach, held from Wednesday to Friday, was organised by the Western Region Medical Superintendents Group, led by Dr. Frederick Yaw Sarpong, to provide surgical care to residents who might otherwise have had to travel long distances and incur significant costs to access treatment. According to the District Director of Health Services for Wassa Amenfi Central, Alhaji Abdul Ganiyu Kantamah Nuhu, the initiative marks the first time a surgical outreach of such scale has been conducted at the Bonuama Polyclinic. The 47 procedures performed on the 39 patients included 33 hernia repairs, four myomectomies, two hysterectomies, two hydrocelectomies and six lipoma excisions.
