E/R:Heartbreaking: 14-Year-Old BECE Candidate Dies After Brief Illness

Kwahu Praso, Eastern Region — The community of Kwahu Praso in the Kwahu South Municipality has been thrown into a state of mourning following the sudden death of 14-year-old Jennifer Osei Nyama, a Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidate and student of Kwahu Praso Preparatory School.

According to her father, Sir Godwin, popularly known as Adwuma, Jennifer complained of a slight headache on the morning of the incident. After taking some painkillers, she proceeded to the examination center to write her papers.

Later that day, her condition reportedly worsened. Sir Godwin received a distress call and rushed to the scene, after which he took his daughter to the Kwahu Praso Clinic for medical attention. She was treated and discharged.

However, her condition deteriorated again later that night. She was rushed to the Holy Family Hospital in Nkawkaw for further treatment but sadly passed away in the early hours of the next morning. Her body has since been deposited at the hospital morgue.

News of Jennifer’s passing sent shockwaves through the community. The Kwahu South Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Williams Frimpong, and the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Effah Osei Bonsu David, visited the examination center to encourage the other candidates. They later visited the bereaved family to express their condolences.

Some of Jennifer’s classmates, visibly shaken by the loss, spoke to the media about their grief and how much they would miss her.
