E/R:Kwahu West MCE and Education Director Tour BECE Centres, Motivate Candidates
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Kwahu West, Hon. Tamimu Halidu, has embarked on a tour of the 11 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) centres across the municipality to encourage candidates and boost their confidence.
During his visit, the MCE advised students to stay disciplined, remain calm, and avoid fear and panic while writing their exams. He urged them to give their best and refrain from engaging in any form of examination malpractice.
“You have prepared well, so trust yourselves and write to the best of your ability,” Hon. Halidu told the candidates.
He also commended teachers for their hard work and dedication in preparing the students, acknowledging the various interventions initiated by the Education Directorate to ensure the candidates were ready.
In a separate interview, the Kwahu West Municipal Director of Education, Mr. George Yankyera, revealed that a total of 2,674 candidates were sitting for this year’s BECE across public and private schools. The group includes 1,298 males and 1,376 females, with 2 visually impaired students, 1 physically challenged candidate, and 2 lactating mothers.
Unfortunately, 11 candidates were absent, comprising:
1 pregnant student
1 new lactating mother
6 male students (reasons unknown)
3 female students (reasons unknown)
Mr. Yankyera assured that efforts would be made to allow the absent candidates, who had already registered, to take the exam at a later time.
He further encouraged the candidates to aim high and bring more single-digit scores to the municipality, expressing satisfaction with the turnout and general conduct at all centres.
Some candidates, after completing their first paper—Social Studies—described the exam as easy, stating that it aligned well with what they had studied. They expressed confidence in achieving excellent results.
