E/R:Amanokrom Ofie Market Records High Patronage on Second Market Day

The second edition of the Ofie Market at Amanokrom in the Akuapem North District recorded significant gains, with vendors and buyers praising the initiative for its growing impact.

Speaking to the media, Mr. Samuel Kodua Boateng, a member of the Ofie Market Organizing Committee and NPP Akuapem North Constituency Secretary, revealed that the market was established following a promise made by the Member of Parliament for Akuapem North, Hon. Sammy Awuku, during his campaign.

According to Mr. Boateng, Hon. Awuku engaged various stakeholders—including farmers, market women, artisans, clergy, and traditional leaders—who agreed on the need to create an additional market day in Amanokrom on the last Saturday of each month. This initiative aims to reduce post-harvest losses and boost local economic activity, especially as the entire Akuapem North District previously had only one market day at Adawso.

Market women and traders expressed their appreciation to the MP for fulfilling his promise. Many noted that the second market day saw improved patronage compared to the first, resulting in increased sales and economic benefits.

Mr. Boateng further disclosed that the MP provided free canopies, seating, and trucks to transport market women to and from their destinations. He added that prices of foodstuffs and goods remained affordable, making the market even more attractive to buyers.
