E/R:Oyoko Queenmother Hosts Festive Celebration for the Aged, Honoring Her Late Mother
Nana Akoma Osei Bonsu II, the Queenmother of Oyoko and Adonten Hemaa of the New Juaben Traditional Area, organized a heartwarming Christmas party for the elderly women of Oyoko at the Oyoko Palace. The event was a tribute to her late mother, Maame Abena Nyamekye, who passed away decades ago.
In her address to the elderly women, Nana Akoma Osei Bonsu II expressed her motivation for hosting the event, stating, "If my mother, Maame Abena Nyamekye, were alive, she would have been part of this group. This celebration is in her memory and my way of honoring the aged in her absence."
As part of the festivities, Nana Akoma Osei Bonsu II, accompanied by her daughter, Lieutenant Colonel Gestina Frempong, Commanding Officer and Director of Transport for the Ghana Armed Forces, presented over 100 half-pieces of cloth to more than 80 elderly women.
During the celebration, Nana Akoma Osei Bonsu II recognized Madam Margaret Ankrah, also known as Ebony, her former vocational school proprietor in Koforidua. She praised Madam Ankrah for her strict and disciplined leadership, which shaped her own life. Nana Akoma Osei Bonsu II, affectionately known in her private life as "Teacher B," spoke fondly of her upbringing and the values instilled in her.
The event was graced by several dignitaries, including Nana Sempei Osei Bonsu II, Oyokohene and Adontenhene of the New Juaben Traditional Area, retired Police Commander C.O.P. Daniel Oduro Kwateng, and Akosua Asiedua, wife of Daasebre Kwaku Boateng III, Omanhene of the New Juaben Traditional Area, along with other traditional elders and chiefs.
The elderly women in attendance expressed immense gratitude and joy for the thoughtful gesture by Nana Akoma Osei Bonsu II, appreciating her efforts to bring happiness and unity during the festive season.
