Fanteakwa South District Assembly Distributes 750 Desks to Schools to Improve Teaching and Learning



The Fanteakwa South District Assembly, in collaboration with the Fanteakwa South District Education Directorate, has distributed 750 mono desks to basic and second-cycle schools across the district to improve the teaching and learning environment.


Speaking to the media during the distribution exercise, the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Mercy Korang, expressed appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama for the government's intervention aimed at addressing the furniture deficit in schools across the country.


According to the DCE, the district received a total of 750 mono desks, which will be distributed to Kindergarten (KG), Primary, Junior High School (JHS), and Senior High School (SHS) students. She noted that the desks are expected to benefit about 1,200 learners and significantly improve classroom conditions.

Hon. Mercy Korang assured teachers that the NDC government recognizes and appreciates their dedication and sacrifices toward the development of education in the district and Ghana as a whole. She announced that the government will soon provide teachers' tables and chairs to schools as part of its commitment to improving educational infrastructure.


She further appealed to teachers to continue delivering quality education, emphasizing that today's children are the future leaders of the nation. She pledged that the District Assembly would continue to collaborate with the Education Directorate to enhance educational standards in Fanteakwa South,The DCE also disclosed that the District Assembly had taken full responsibility for the transportation cost of delivering the desks to the beneficiary schools.


The Fanteakwa South District Director of Education, Mr. Akorsah Addo, expressed gratitude to the District Assembly and the government for the timely support. He revealed that the district had not received any mono desks in the past four years, describing the intervention as one that had come at the right time.


He urged headteachers and teachers to ensure proper maintenance of the desks and to use them for their intended purpose so that they would serve pupils for many years.


Beneficiary schools also expressed their appreciation to the government and the District Assembly for the gesture. They thanked the authorities for responding to their long-standing need for classroom furniture and appealed for additional educational support in the future, saying, "Like Oliver Twist, we always ask for more."


The distribution forms part of the government's broader efforts to improve educational infrastructure and create a more conducive learning environment for schoolchildren across Ghana.
