E/R:PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH CALLS ON ALL TO SAY NO TO GALAMSEY AND DEGRADATION OF ECOLOGY.
The Presbyterian Church worldwide wore red bands to church on Sunday, 14th June 2026, in a silent but serious and conspicuous move inviting all to join them in the campaign against ecological injustice. They are calling for a stop to environmental destruction.
The call was very loud in all Presbyterian churches, and the same was evident at Akropong Grace Presbyterian Church where the Men’s Fellowship had their day. The choir, clergy, and congregants wore the red bands on their heads, around their necks, and on their hands.
Speaking after the church service, Secretary to the Men’s Fellowship, Brother Patrick Nyankom, said God created man and handed him a beautiful ecology to keep, not to destroy. He said that in Ghana today, man has chosen destruction of the ecology over keeping it, and the time has come for all to join the Presbyterian Church to say no to environmental destruction. Galamsey must stop and the ecology must be protected.
He said the church would continue from time to time to cry out against this inhumane activity to ensure man keeps the ecology and does not destroy it.
On this anniversary day of the Men’s Fellowship, the President, Brother Lawrence Addo Bampo, gave a brief history of the group and touched on its vibrancy and support to the youth and the needy, including the School for the Blind, which was supported with braille materials. He encouraged members of the fellowship to remain steadfast and, with the love of God, to support one another.
