Barimah Dr Kwabena Awuah Parker I, Chief of Sokode-Juaso in the Abuakwa North Municipality of the Eastern Region, has intervened to reshape the deplorable road linking the community to the Kukurantumi-Koforidua highway.


According to the chief, the poor condition of the road has hindered economic activities and development in the area, despite repeated calls on the authorities to fix it.


Residents have expressed frustration over the situation, particularly the challenges faced by schoolchildren who are unable to cross the flooded road to access schools in Kukurantumi.


The predominantly farming community is also struggling to transport farm produce to market centres, resulting in reduced sales and financial losses for farmers.

The Head Pastor of Believe In Christ Prayer Ministry at Sokode-Juaso, Apostle Otabil, recounted an incident in which a school pupil nearly drowned while attempting to cross the flooded road to school.

He said the incident compelled community members to seek assistance from parents to help their children navigate the dangerous section of the road.


The situation subsequently attracted the attention of Barimah Dr Kwabena Awuah Parker I, who stepped in to reshape the road and help alleviate the immediate difficulties faced by residents.

 
The chief and community members have appealed to the government and relevant authorities to urgently collaborate with the community to address the road challenges and bring development to Sokode-Juaso to promote the socio-economic growth of the area and the country as a whole.
