E/R:Abuakwa South MP to Roll Out Kingsley Maternal Care in November

The Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South, Hon. Dr. Kingsley Agyemang, has announced plans to roll out the Kingsley Maternal Care initiative in November 2026, aimed at providing additional support to pregnant women across the constituency.

Dr. Agyemang disclosed this during the outdooring ceremony of Barimah Ofori Akari Opare Ahuntahunu II, the Kyebi Pano Chief, held at the Kyebi Pano Presbyterian Basic School Park on September 28, 2026.

According to the MP, the initiative is intended to support pregnant women to access the care and assistance they need to deliver safely.

«“It’s your time as a pregnant woman in Abuakwa South Constituency. I’m coming to support you massively to deliver safely. This is dubbed Kingsley Maternal Care,” Dr. Kingsley Agyemang said.»

The announcement comes after preparations for the broader Kingsley Health Cares Programme, which has already involved engagements with the Abuakwa South Municipal Health Directorate. Reports indicate that the programme is specifically designed to improve healthcare access for pregnant women in the municipality, with Apedwa selected as the venue for its launch.

The maternal-care initiative adds to a series of interventions attributed to Dr. Agyemang since becoming Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South, particularly in education, healthcare and youth development.

In education, the MP has supported hundreds of tertiary students financially. In March 2026, it was reported that 418 tertiary students from all 24 electoral areas and 118 polling stations in the constituency benefited from GH¢808,939.13 in tuition and other academic-related support for the 2025/2026 academic year. The beneficiaries were drawn from 74 tertiary institutions across the country.

Dr. Agyemang has also invested in basic education through the Kingsley Maths and Science Quiz and Kingsley Spelling Challenge, initiatives aimed at encouraging academic excellence and developing interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

The competitions have involved pupils from dozens of schools across Abuakwa South. In 2026, the Municipal Director of Education, Mrs. Comfort Ofori-Appiah, credited the annual competitions with improvements in academic performance, reading proficiency and learner confidence among pupils in the municipality.

The longer-term impact of the quiz initiative was highlighted in July 2026 when 20 students who emerged through the Kingsley Quiz initiative graduated as medical doctors in Cuba after receiving scholarships to pursue medical education. The beneficiaries are expected to return to Ghana and contribute to the health sector.

Beyond education, Dr. Agyemang has also undertaken interventions in healthcare. In August 2026, he supported the Kyebi Government Hospital with medical equipment and consumables, including suction machines, electronic weighing scales, pulse oximeters, blood-pressure machines, thermometers, patient monitors and wheelchairs. He also paid the medical bills of in-patients at the facility as part of the intervention.

In sports development, the MP handed over a newly constructed floodlit AstroTurf facility to St. Stephen’s Presby Senior High Technical School, providing students and residents with an improved space for sporting and physical activities.

Dr. Agyemang's parliamentary profile also shows an academic and professional background spanning administration, insurance, academia and public service, including his previous role as Registrar of the Ghana Scholarships Secretariat and teaching positions at Brunel University, KNUST and GIMPA.

The planned Kingsley Maternal Care initiative therefore becomes another intervention in the MP’s stated focus on human-capital development and social support, this time targeting maternal healthcare and the welfare of pregnant women in the Abuakwa South Constituency.

The programme is expected to be rolled out in November 2026, with further details on its scope, beneficiaries and specific forms of support expected to emerge as the launch approaches.
