E/R: Kwahu West MCE Presents Start-Up Kits to 62 Apprentice Graduates

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kwahu West, Hon. Tamimu Halidu, has presented start-up kits to 62 apprentice graduates under the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) skills training programme.

The initiative is aimed at supporting the beneficiaries to establish their own businesses, improve their livelihoods, and remove financial barriers that prevent trained youth from setting up shops after apprenticeship. It seeks to move beneficiaries directly from skills training into self-reliant enterprises.

The beneficiaries were trained in various vocations including hairdressing, dressmaking, bakery, tiling, auto electronics, catering, welding, masonry, plumbing, and auto mechanic, among others.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Hon. Tamimu lauded the initiative, saying it would help improve livelihoods, especially among the youth who lack financial resources to start their own businesses after training. He advised the beneficiaries to use the kits for their intended purpose.

He stated that the Government of Ghana under President Mahama remains committed to providing employment opportunities for the teeming youth, stressing that the training and start-up support would empower beneficiaries with sustainable enterprises. He encouraged them to make the best use of the resources provided.

Items distributed included industrial sewing machines, hair dryers, nail care toolkits, carpentry kits, tiling kits, auto mechanic kits, welding and electrical tools, wheelbarrows, and cooking utensils.

In conclusion, he urged the beneficiaries to see the equipment not just as tools, but as symbols of opportunity, dignity, and independence — seeds of resilience, innovation, prosperity, skills, confidence, and opportunity to succeed.

Some of the beneficiaries, in an interview, expressed profound gratitude to the Government, the MCE, and the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) and promised to put the investment to good use. They also called on residents of the municipality to rally behind the government and the MCE to enable others to benefit from similar initiatives.
