E/R: Boso-Gua Chieftaincy Impasse Resolved, Osei Nyarko III Asked to Return
The Abusua Panyin of the three gates of the Dwomuna Asona Family, Kwame Addo Mfodwo, has announced the resolution of the chieftaincy impasse in the Boso-Gua Traditional Area, calling on Nana Okotwasuo Osei Nyarko III to return and resume leadership of the area.
According to a statement issued by Kwame Addo Mfodwo, Nana Okotwasuo Osei Nyarko III was installed as Paramount Chief of Boso-Gua in 1999 but was destooled in 2018 following disagreements between him and some sections of the community.
The development subsequently led to the installation of Okotwasuo Nyarko Yeboah III, also known as Sloopy Mike Gyamfi, who has occupied the stool since then.
However, Kwame Addo Mfodwo explained that although traditional rites were performed during the 2018 installation, the necessary legal procedures and proper traditional processes were not followed, resulting in a prolonged dispute over the legitimate occupant of the stool.
He noted that the impasse had created confusion and affected development in the traditional area, with both Nana Okotwasuo Osei Nyarko III and Nana Okotwasuo Nyarko Yeboah III claiming the paramount stool.
The statement further indicated that a court ruling had recognised Nana Osei Nyarko III as the legitimate chief, a position it said had also been acknowledged by the National and Eastern Regional Houses of Chiefs.
Kwame Addo Mfodwo announced that the necessary traditional rites had now been performed to correct what he described as the anomaly, adding that, according to custom, Okotwasuo Nyarko Yeboah III was no longer the Paramount Chief of Boso-Gua.
He expressed appreciation to the latter for the time and resources he had devoted to the stool.
The chiefs and people of the Boso-Gua Traditional Area also rendered an unreserved apology to Nana Okotwasuo Osei Nyarko III and appealed to him to return and lead the traditional area towards peace, unity and development.
