Anyaa Sowutuom NPP Women’s Organiser Holds 3-Day Free Breast Cancer Screening

The Women’s Organiser for the Anyaa Sowutuom Constituency, Hajia Hawa Haruna (a.k.a Triple H), has organized a three-day free breast cancer screening and awareness campaign for residents in the constituency.

The exercise, undertaken in partnership with healthcare professionals, involved screening and education on early detection and self-examination to promote preventive healthcare and raise awareness about the disease.

Speaking at the event, Hajia Hawa Haruna said the initiative forms part of efforts to encourage regular screening for early detection of breast cancer. She explained that the exercise started at Chantan Market, continued at Ablekuma, and climaxed at Anyaa Market.

She noted that members participated fully in the screening, adding that some cases were detected and referred for further medical attention. She reaffirmed her commitment to educating the public on the importance of breast cancer awareness, regular screening, and early detection to improve treatment outcomes.

For his part, the Member of Parliament for Anyaa Sowutuom, Hon. Elder Tobin, highlighted the importance of awareness creation in the fight against breast cancer. He encouraged residents to go for regular checks as part of broader efforts to promote healthier communities, stressing that early detection saves lives by improving treatment outcomes and increasing survival rates.

Some participants, in an interview, expressed profound gratitude to the MP and the Women’s Organiser for the initiative, which they said had benefited them greatly.
