Eight pupils of Akroso Islamic School who passed the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and are preparing to enter Senior High School (SHS) have been awarded full scholarships by Resource Together Ghana, a United States-based non-governmental organisation.
The scholarships will cover the beneficiaries’ academic and welfare needs throughout their first year in SHS. The organisation has also pledged to extend the support to cover the entire three-year period, subject to additional donations.
Speaking to the media, the Media Coordinator of Resource Together Ghana, Mr. Ebenezer Donkor, said the organisation was committed to supporting the students beyond paying their school fees.
He explained that the organisation would conduct monthly visits to the beneficiaries at their respective schools to monitor their welfare, academic performance and general progress.
The Headmaster of Akroso Islamic School, Mr. Ibrahim Ahmed Botwe, commended Resource Together Ghana for its continued support, noting that the organisation’s intervention had contributed significantly to improving academic performance in the school.
He expressed optimism that the next batch of candidates would also achieve excellent results and appealed to the organisation to sustain its support for the school and its pupils.
Speaking on behalf of the parents, Alhaji Shabu Mohammed Yaya expressed profound gratitude to Resource Together Ghana for the gesture, describing the scholarship package as amazing and timely.
He acknowledged the importance of the intervention in easing the financial burden on parents and providing the beneficiaries with an opportunity to pursue their secondary education with greater confidence.
