E/R:Akyem Maase Traditional Council Welcomes 42-Member Pride of Ghana Tours Delegation from US, Caribbean

The Akyem Maase Traditional Council in the Eastern Region has welcomed a 42-member delegation of Pride of Ghana Tours from the United States and the Caribbean to the community as part of their efforts to trace their African roots and reconnect with Ghanaian culture and traditions.


The delegation was received by the Akyem Maase Traditional Council, led by Osabarima Adu Asare Bosompem III, at the Okofo Palace in Akyem Maase on September 29, 2026.


Speaking on behalf of the tourists, the female leader of the delegation said most of the members were Jamaicans whose ancestral lineage could be traced to Ghana. She explained that the visit was intended to enable them to reconnect with their heritage while learning more about Ghanaian culture, customs and traditions.

Welcoming the delegation, Osabarima Adu Asare Bosompem III said the warm reception accorded the visitors reflected the hospitality of their ancestors, which the people of Akyem Maase continue to uphold.


He gave a brief profile of Akyem Maase, explaining that the community has a population of more than 6000 people, together with several smaller settlements that form part of the traditional area.

Osabarima Adu Asare Bosompem III said the people of Akyem Maase are predominantly farmers, cultivating crops such as cocoa, plantain, cocoyam, cabbage, garden eggs and other food crops.


As part of efforts to make the visitors feel at home, the traditional ruler assured them that they would be treated as members of the community and encouraged them to participate in the local way of life, including sharing the food enjoyed by the people of Akyem Maase.


The traditional ruler also appealed to investors to consider Akyem Maase for investment, particularly in commercial agriculture and agro-processing, citing the availability of vast arable land in the area.


He urged the visitors to consider Akyem Maase as their home and return to contribute to the development of the community whenever they travelled back to their respective countries.


In a significant gesture to deepen the relationship between the delegation and the traditional council, Osabarima Adu Asare Bosompem III enstooled two members of the delegation, Pauline and Paulette, as Nkosohemaa and Kyidomhemaa respectively.


Pauline was given the stool name Nana Akosua Boatemah, while Paulette was named Nana Yaa Koramah.


The newly enstooled traditional leaders expressed joy and surprise at the honour, saying the gesture had created a special bond between them and the people of Akyem Maase.

They pledged to do everything within their means to contribute to the socio-economic development of the community.


Nana Akosua Boatemah and Nana Yaa Koramah expressed appreciation to Osabarima Adu Asare Bosompem III and the entire traditional council for the honour and for accepting them as members of the Akyem Maase community.
