E/R:Aikins Ofori Says His Work Has Helped End Political Intimidation in Abuakwa South

Abuakwa South NDC Chairman hopeful, Mr. Aikins Ofori, says his years of work within the constituency have helped to reduce political intimidation and victimization, making it easier for party members and supporters to openly participate in NDC activities.


Speaking to the press after his vetting at the Nsutam Community Centre on Sunday, September 27, 2026, Mr. Aikins Ofori said he had worked for many years as a communications officer in the Abuakwa South Constituency, an area he described as having traditionally been dominated by the NPP.


According to him, political intimidation and victimization had previously discouraged some NDC members from openly participating in party activities. He said his persistent efforts, together with support from the party's structures, had helped change the situation and made the NDC more attractive to members and supporters.


Mr. Ofori further highlighted his experience within the party, including his position as Dean of Eastern Regional Communicators and his membership of both the regional and national communications teams.


He said following the vetting and balloting process, he secured number two on the ballot paper, which he described as a symbol of continuity and progression from his previous position as a communications officer to the constituency chairmanship.


Mr. Aikins Ofori said the number two represents unity, hard work and victory, adding that his decision to contest the chairmanship was driven by calls from the grassroots of the party.


He cited President John Dramani Mahama's progression from the party's communications structures to the presidency as an example of how dedication and service to the party can lead to greater responsibilities.


He therefore appealed to all NDC members and delegates in Abuakwa South to remain united, peaceful and committed as the constituency prepares for its internal elections.
