Police Investigate Shooting Incident Involving Former MP Adwoa Safo at Kwabenya

 

The Ghana Police Service has launched investigations into a shooting incident involving former Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo, at Kwabenya in the Greater Accra Region.


According to a press release issued by the Accra Regional Public Affairs Unit of the Ghana Police Service on June 21, 2026, preliminary investigations indicate that the incident occurred on Sunday, June 21, 2026, while Hon. Adwoa Safo was visiting her late father's residence at Kwabenya.


The statement disclosed that the former lawmaker sustained a gunshot injury to her left ear during the incident. Following the shooting, she reported the matter to the Kwabenya Police and presented a vehicle with registration number GN 3482-24, which reportedly bore visible gunshot damage.


Police authorities confirmed that the victim has been issued with a Police Medical Report Form and is currently receiving medical treatment. Meanwhile, the vehicle involved has been retained by investigators for forensic examination as part of efforts to establish the full circumstances surrounding the shooting.


The Madina Divisional Police Command is leading the investigation and has assured the public that efforts are underway to identify all persons connected to the incident and determine the motive behind the attack.


The Ghana Police Service has urged the public to remain calm as investigations continue, pledging to provide further updates as more information becomes available.
