E/R: Okyenhene Strips Off Daasebre Title of Etwereso Chief Over Alleged Rebellion
The Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin has stripped Daasebre Ofosu Kwabi Ayebiahwe of his title with immediate effect over alleged acts of rebellion against the Okyeman state.
In a solemn declaration issued at the Ofori Panin Fie in Kyebi on Friday, April 10, 2026, the Okyenhene and the Standing Committee of Okyeman accused the Etwereso chief of making statements deemed treasonous, including attempts to break away and form a separate “Odau state.”
The statement noted that the chief had also refused to honour an invitation to appear before the council, an act described as disrespectful to traditional authority.
As part of the sanctions, the former chief has been removed from the Okyeman Standing Committee, barred from all traditional engagements, and denied audience at the palace. All towns under his jurisdiction have also been reassigned to the Begoro division.
The council further nullified the appointment of a regent for Chia under his authority, directing local traditional leaders to oversee the town’s affairs.
The Okyenhene emphasized that while the decision was taken with regret, it was necessary to preserve unity, discipline, and the sanctity of customs within Okyeman.
