E/R:Obodase Residents Live in Fear as Suspected Attacker Terrorizes Farmers

Residents of Obodase, a predominantly farming community in the Abuakwa North Municipality of the Eastern Region, say they are living in fear following a series of violent incidents allegedly linked to a man identified as Papa Kwame.

The latest incident occurred when 54-year-old cocoa farmer and photographer, Mr. Joseph Tei Mensah, confronted the suspect for allegedly cutting down his cocoa trees. The confrontation escalated, leading to an attack in which Mr. Mensah sustained injuries to his left palm. He was rescued by nearby residents who rushed to the scene after hearing his cries for help. The suspect reportedly fled before more support arrived.

Mr. Mensah was later taken to the New Tafo Government Hospital for treatment.

The case has been reported to the Akyem Tafo District Police Command, and investigations are ongoing to track down the suspect.

During a visit to the community, some farmers disclosed that the suspect has been terrorizing them for months, allegedly threatening them with weapons and seizing their farm produce.

Affected farmers voiced their concerns and frustrations in interviews with Oyerepa TV correspondent George Botha, calling for swift action to restore safety and calm in the area.
