E/R:Chief of Sokode-Juaso Extends Support to 1,500 Widows, Aged and Vulnerable Persons, Pledges Stronger Community Development
Dr. Barimah Kwabena Awuah Parker I, Chief of Sokode-Juaso in the Abuakwa North Municipality of the Eastern Region, has shown exemplary compassion and leadership by donating bags of rice to about 1,500 selected widows, aged persons, and other vulnerable individuals in Kumasi Bethel, Koforidua, and Sokode-Juaso.
The humanitarian exercise, which climaxed at Sokode-Juaso on Sunday, December 28, 2025, was organized by Sokode-Juaso Youth for Development as part of efforts to support the less privileged and promote social welfare within the communities.
Speaking at the programme, Dr. Barimah Kwabena Awuah Parker I thanked God for His protection over the people of Sokode-Juaso and expressed appreciation to residents for their continuous support and cooperation, which he described as vital to effective traditional leadership.
As a gesture of goodwill, the Chief also donated GHC 15,000 to the youth who organized the programme, commending them for their dedication to community service. He assured them that subsequent editions of the event would attract greater support and wider participation.
He further announced that lands are available at Sokode-Juaso for citizens at home and in the diaspora who are interested in building and investing, as part of plans to expand and develop the community.
Dr. Awuah Parker I concluded by calling on residents to maintain unity, peace, and social cohesion, emphasizing that collective effort remains the cornerstone of sustainable development in Sokode-Juaso.
The programme attracted traditional leaders, youth groups, community members, and beneficiaries, many of whom applauded the Chief and the youth for their commitment to humanitarian support and community advancement.
