ARMED ROBBERS RAID HILLS OIL FILLING STATION IN AKYEM OLD TAFO, MAKE OFF WITH CASH AND CCTV SERVER
A brazen armed robbery has rocked the quiet town of Akyem Old Tafo in the Abuakwa North Municipality of the Eastern Region, after heavily armed assailants stormed the Hills Oil gas filling station on the evening of Monday, July 29, 2025.
According to the station's manager, Mr. Seth Koranteng, the attack occurred at approximately 7:00 PM, just as staff were wrapping up their daily operations. The robbers, who were reportedly wielding firearms, forcefully entered the premises and ordered employees to surrender their belongings at gunpoint.
The assailants made away with an amount of GH¢10,350 in cash, several mobile phones belonging to staff, and the station’s CCTV server, which is believed to have stored critical surveillance footage of the incident and previous days’ activities.
The terrifying ordeal has left workers shaken, though no injuries were reported during the incident.
The matter has since been reported to the Akyem Tafo District Police Command, which has launched an investigation into the robbery. Law enforcement authorities have assured the public of their commitment to bringing the perpetrators to justice and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
This incident adds to growing concerns about the safety of fuel stations and other businesses in the region, with residents and stakeholders calling for enhanced security measures and increased police visibility in the area.
