Eastern Regional Minister Wraps Up MMDCE Confirmations in Kwahu Afram Plains: Hon. Moses Tangbeh Secures 96% Endorsement
The Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, has officially concluded the confirmation of all Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the region, with the final ceremony held in the Kwahu Afram Plains South District. All 33 MMDCEs across the Eastern Region have now been confirmed.
The climax of the confirmation process took place at Tease, where Hon. Moses Tangbeh was overwhelmingly endorsed as the District Chief Executive for Kwahu Afram Plains South, securing 96% of the votes from Assembly Members—a strong vote of confidence in his leadership.
In his acceptance speech, Hon. Tangbeh emphasized unity and collaboration as critical drivers for development. He expressed deep gratitude to the President, the leadership of the NDC, and the Assembly Members for entrusting him with the mandate to serve. He pledged to prioritize development in key sectors including road infrastructure, education, healthcare, and job creation.
The Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Joseph Appiah, commended the newly confirmed DCE and acknowledged the challenges ahead. He stressed the need for unity among stakeholders and reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive development. The MP also appealed to the newly appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, to reinstate the Police Taskforce to safeguard market women and residents from the recent surge in armed robbery attacks in the district.
Some residents, while congratulating the new DCE, called on him to fulfill his promises, particularly on youth employment. They highlighted the need for key facilities such as a gas filling station and large-scale poultry farms to meet local demands and reduce the need to travel to Nkawkaw for basic goods like eggs.
