The widows and widowers of Akyem Dwenease in the Fanteakwa South Constituency gathered in a heartwarming celebration during the commemoration of the late Queen Mother, Ohemaa Fobia. The anniversary event, organized by Ohemaa Fobia’s children in collaboration with the NASK 1 Foundation, provided over 300 widows and widowers with gifts and a communal meal, in keeping with Ohemaa Fobia’s legacy of compassion and community support.

In his speech on behalf of the family, Mr. Fredrick Okwaning, also known as Obolo, emphasized that the event aimed to honor the late Queen Mother’s vision of supporting widows and widowers throughout the Fanteakwa South communities. “This gathering ensures that all widows and widowers feel remembered and cherished during this commemoration of our beloved mother’s life and legacy,” Mr. Okwaning shared.

As part of the event, attendees received cloth, soaps, and a variety of cooked foods in a joyful gathering that reinforced community bonds and the spirit of remembrance.

The Queen Mother of Akyem Dwenease and founder of NASK 1 Foundation, Nana Appeaa Sarpong Kumankoma I, also addressed the gathering. She highlighted the importance of supporting those who may need assistance, particularly widows and widowers, as part of an ongoing tradition inspired by Ohemaa Fobia. “This annual gathering aims to make a lasting impact and reflect the late Ohemaa Fobia’s commitment to supporting the vulnerable in our community,” Nana Appeaa said.

Some of the beneficiaries expressed their profound gratitude to Mr. Okwaning and the organizing foundation, praying for his success and the well-being of Ohemaa Fobia’s family. “This gesture has brought smiles and strengthened our community bonds,” shared one recipient.
