E/R:Chief of Akyem Dwenease and Parliamentary Candidate Urge Ghanaians to Embrace Peace and Unity Ahead of Elections
The Chief of Akyem Dwenease, Barimah Beyeeman Gyakyisei II, has called on all Ghanaians to prioritize peace and unity in every aspect of life as the nation heads into the 2024 elections. Speaking at an event commemorating the anniversary of the late Queen Mother of Akyem Dwenease, Barimah Gyakyisei emphasized the critical importance of peacebuilding, urging citizens to cultivate harmony within their homes, which he believes will extend to the larger communities and the nation as a whole.
Addressing the gathered audience with heartfelt conviction, the Chief reminded them that true peace begins at the individual and family levels. “Peacebuilding starts within the home,” he stressed, “and it is everyone’s responsibility to foster a peaceful society by embracing tolerance and non-violence.” He added that by making a conscious effort to practice peaceful behavior in daily interactions, Ghanaians could create a ripple effect of stability and harmony that will positively influence their communities and, ultimately, the nation.
In a similar vein, Mr. Duke Ofori Atta, the Parliamentary Candidate for the Fanteakwa South Constituency, echoed the Chief’s sentiments by urging fellow politicians to prioritize peace and unity in their campaign messages. “Our focus should be on promoting togetherness and strengthening the foundation of peace in Ghana,” he remarked. He highlighted that political leaders bear a significant responsibility in setting a tone of respect and collaboration, which can have a profound impact on the communities they serve.
Mr. Ofori Atta also addressed the critical role of voters, advising them to carefully consider their choices in the upcoming elections. He reminded voters that their decisions would shape the country’s future leadership and the kind of society they would live in. In a personal appeal, he urged Ghanaians to support Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for President and himself as the Parliamentary Candidate for Fanteakwa South, underscoring his commitment to the peace and progress of the community.
The event was a powerful reminder of the importance of peaceful elections and a unified Ghana, with both the Chief of Akyem Dwenease and Mr. Ofori Atta stressing that every Ghanaian has a role to play in building a harmonious and stable nation. Their calls for peace resonated with the audience, underscoring the shared responsibility to safeguard the country’s unity as the election season approaches.
