The Abuakwa North Municipal Health Directorate is set to roll out a Measles and Rubella Vaccination Campaign, offering free vaccinations for all children aged 9 months to under 5 years. This initiative aims to protect children from two highly contagious diseases that can cause severe complications such as pneumonia, brain swelling (encephalitis), and even death.

The campaign, which will run from 2nd to 6th October 2024, will take place in all communities within the municipality. In addition to the measles and rubella vaccines, children aged 6 months to under 5 years will receive a dose of Vitamin A to boost their immune systems and help prevent blindness and other health issues.

Vaccination teams will be stationed at local health centers, schools, and other convenient community locations to ensure easy access for parents and guardians. The Health Directorate has advised parents to bring their children’s vaccination cards, though children without cards will still be eligible to receive the vaccine.

The Abuakwa North Health Directorate is encouraging all parents not to miss this important opportunity to protect their children. Vaccines are safe, effective, and crucial in preventing serious diseases. Let’s ensure every child in the municipality is vaccinated and safeguarded against measles and rubella.
