E/R: Kyebi Pano Chief Calls for Unity and Inclusive Governance
Barimah Ofori Akari Opare Ahuntahunu II, the newly outdoored Kyebi Pano Chief, has called for unity and inclusive governance to promote the socio-economic development of the community.
He made the call during a durbar held at the Kyebi Pano Presbyterian Basic School Park on Monday, September 28, 2026, as part of activities to officially outdoor and give thanks for his installation.
Barimah Ofori Akari Opare Ahuntahunu II thanked Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin, the Okyenhene, and the Okyeman Traditional Council, as well as all those who supported his installation.
He said development was a collective responsibility and urged residents to work together to build a better Kyebi Pano.
On education, the chief commended teachers in the community for their efforts and promised to work with stakeholders to improve the quality of education. He also warned that parents would be held responsible if children below 18 years were found loitering in the community after 8 p.m., with possible punitive measures.
Touching on sanitation, he appealed to shop owners to obtain dustbins from the Municipal Assembly to help reduce littering and improve hygiene in the community.
As part of efforts to beautify Kyebi Pano, Barimah Ofori Akari Opare Ahuntahunu II said he would personally support the painting of buildings within the central business area.
During the ceremony, he handed over a brand-new Toyota Hiace GL van to the traditional council, represented by the Abusuapanin, Danso Abeam, to improve the council’s mobility and support its traditional activities.
Okogyeaman Apagya Ofori, Chief of Akyem Apapam (Amantomiensa), thanked Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin for approving the installation of Barimah Ofori Akari Opare Ahuntahunu II.
He commended the new chief for his sacrifices, hard work, diligence, humility and service to Amantomiensa during his time as regent. He said his elevation to the substantive chief of Kyebi Pano was a recognition of his service.
Okogyeaman Apagya Ofori advised the new chief to remain focused and vigilant despite his elevation and to respect the elders of the community to promote peace and unity.
The Kyebi Chief, Osabarima Marfo Kwabrane, also congratulated Barimah Ofori Akari Opare Ahuntahunu II, saying his eight years of service as regent had demonstrated that he was deserving of the position.
He advised him to avoid land disputes, bribery and other acts that could undermine his dignity and the peace of the community.
Osabarima Marfo Kwabrane further disclosed that his office had received a proposal from the United States for the establishment of a STEM school project, from the basic level to university. He appealed to Barimah Ofori Akari Opare Ahuntahunu II to make land available for the project to be established at Kyebi Pano.
He wished the new chief success as he begins his journey as the substantive chief of Kyebi Pano.
The colourful ceremony was attended by Hon. Kingsley Agyemang, MP for Abuakwa South, together with his NPP Constituency Executives, traditional leaders, clergy, heads of institutions, security officials, the media and members of the general public.
