W/R:Amenfi Central MP Joana Gyan Cudjoe Engages Assembly Members Over Electricity Challenges

The Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, Joana Gyan Cudjoe, has engaged Assembly Members, former Assembly Members, constituency executives and community leaders to document and discuss persistent electricity challenges affecting communities across the constituency.


The challenges include faulty and inadequate transformers, damaged meters, ECG-related issues, unstable power supply and the need to extend electricity to underserved communities.


The MP particularly commended Hon. Gyenfi Emmanuel, NPP Assembly Member for Kwaku Boah, for his consistent efforts in following up on the electricity challenges affecting his constituents.


According to Madam Gyan Cudjoe, Hon. Gyenfi first raised the matter several months ago and continued following up two months ago and again last month before personally attending the latest engagement with his team.


She described the initiative as an example of leadership that puts the interests of constituents above partisan politics.


“Development has no political colour. Electricity, transformers, meters, ECG services, roads, schools, healthcare and development are not NDC or NPP — they are for everybody,” she said.


The delegation included Hon. Gyenfi Emmanuel, Hon. Mathias Coffie, Hon. Richard Angsokpieg, Hon. Enock Kwaw Sekyim, Hon. Adowah Stephen and Hon. Kwame Ashie.


Former Assembly Members and constituency leaders, including Hon. Anita Lafone and Hon. Daniel Appiah, popularly known as Chairman Daniel, were also part of the engagement.


Madam Gyan Cudjoe said efforts to address the electricity and energy challenges in Amenfi Central have been ongoing for approximately three months.


She noted that the District Chief Executive, Hon. Peter Amposah, her office, the NDC constituency and branch structures, Assembly Members, community leaders and relevant energy and ECG authorities have been collaborating and following up on the challenges.


According to the MP, with the commitment and assurance of the President and the Minister for Energy, efforts are being intensified to resolve the challenges.


She expressed optimism that solutions to some of the electricity and transformer problems would begin to emerge before the end of August.


“We will keep working until our people see results,” she said.


Madam Gyan Cudjoe further reiterated that she considers herself the MP for all residents of Amenfi Central, irrespective of their political affiliation.


She therefore encouraged residents experiencing electricity, transformer, meter, ECG, road, educational, healthcare or other genuine development challenges to approach her office, her team or their respective Assembly Members for assistance and follow-up.


She called for greater cooperation among political actors, traditional leaders, community representatives and residents to accelerate development in the constituency.


“Let us put politics aside. Let us work hard together and support the people of Amenfi Central,” she added.
